Appleton Luff - International Lawyers is pleased to announce that Sylvain Poitras has joined the firm as a Partner based in Geneva effective today.
Sylvain will head the Life Sciences Practice providing cross-border and regional legal support to health-sector players in the private and public sector on matters involving health products, health services, and health legislation reform drawing from his recognized expertise in contractual, regulatory and compliance (anti-bribery) matters. He will continue to advise mature firms, start-ups, investors, non-profits and regulators.
Sylvain is an international life sciences lawyer admitted to practice in the United States (New York) and Canada (Quebec). He holds a Master of Public Health (MPH) in health-sector management from Harvard University. Sylvain draws from over 20 years of experience as an international legal executive including with large US firms in the Life Sciences field (Cardinal Health and Medtronic), and is an active member of Swiss Medtech, the Swiss medical device industry association. In addition, Sylvain performed more than 20 country-based health legislation reform assignments on behalf of the World Health Organization, the UN health agency. Since 2013 he has headed Swiss Peak Technologies SA.
Sylvain is a lecturer in Medtech Law at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL), a medical technology research powerhouse, and at the University of Neuchâtel, home of the Swiss Health Law Institute. He has also lectured in Health Law at several institutions, including the University of Montreal and the University of Geneva, and has provided legal training to health-sector players worldwide.
